Wayne D. Cottrell lived in Utah from 1994 to 2005. During that 11.5-year period, he stayed active in Utah’s road bike racing and duathlon scene, participating in criteriums, hillclimbs, road races, time trials, and run-bike-run events. While most of his racing was concentrated in the Wasatch Front region, occasional destination races led him to some of Utah’s other urban concentrations and rural corners. Wayne was a member of the Utah Cycling Association, and one of the highlights of this period was his participation in the Olympic torch relay in 1996. An article describing his 1996 Olympic torch relay experience appeared in Cycling Utah. He teaches and performs research studies in transportation engineering.
